Course Outline

   
Drawing on current legislation, including changes brought about by the Care Act 2014, this course supports you to understand the categories of abuse, identify indicators and discuss good practice in responding responsibly and proportionately to safeguarding concerns. Focusing on preventing abuse and neglect, and minimising risk, you will consider improvements to multi-agency working and how to promote safeguarding awareness to clients and the wider community.

To enable staff to effectively identify and manage adult safeguarding issues in line with good practice and in light of the new legislative changes

   

Objectives

   
By the end of the course participants will have had opportunities to:

  • Understand the changes brought in by the Care Act 2014 regarding safeguarding including new categories of abuse
  • Consider why clients face increased risk and donít report abuse
  • Consider how to deal with disclosures of abuse and neglect
  • Discuss new ideas for improved multi agency working
  • Develop action plans for promoting awareness of safeguarding among clients and the wider community
