Is it 3 years since you attended Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training?
Is it time to update your knowledge and skills?
Mental Health First Aid England recommend that just like physical first aid, MHFAiders® should attend a Refresher course every three years.
This course updates you as a Mental Health First Aider®. Participants receive:
- a digital manual and ongoing learning events through an Online Learning Hub
- an invitation to join the Association of Mental Health First Aiders®
- access to resources for post-training support via the MHFAider® support app
- a certificate from MHFA England that will last for 3yrs
Please note that the Mental Health Health First Aid (MHFA) Refresher is only for people who have completed either the two-day Mental Health First Aid or an Armed Forces MFHA course.
Aim(s):
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches people how to identify, understand and help someone who may be experiencing a mental health issue.
Objectives:
By the end of the course participants will have had opportunities to:
- Keep knowledge, awareness, and skills of mental health support current
- Update knowledge of mental health and what influences it
- Practise applying the Mental Health First Aid action plan
- Gain access to three years of MHFAider® support and benefits

Suzanne Pearson
Suzanne Pearson is a BABCP Accredited CBT therapist and a Registered Mental Health Nurse. She also has a PGCE in Adult Education. Suzanne has extensive and ongoing experience of supporting individuals to develop their resilience and well-being, and in supporting those recovering from mental and emotional distress.
She has worked in the NHS and voluntary sector as a therapist, mental health practitioner and service manager. Currently she provides a low cost in-person and online CBT therapy service for adults. Suzanne has been a longstanding volunteer with a peer led self-help group for people who self-harm, and she has also volunteered for a national out of hours crisis service.
She continues to be involved with various local mental health related charities as an advisor. She is an experienced independent mental health and social care trainer including being a qualified instructor for the Mental Health First Aid (Adult and Youth) and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST) courses.
