Introduction to supervision (online for teams)
An introduction to a structured supervision process to build confidence in the effective management and support of staff.
This is a 1/2 day course delivered online (for teams).
This course provides a tried and tested approach to providing effective supervision, as part of management processes that motivate, support, develop and direct staff, in meeting organisational objectives.
The course covers templates for contracting and recording, what to include on a supervision agenda and opportunities to discuss setting a conducive environment; alongside a review of the various underpinning theories.
Currently only available online (for teams).
Course aims
To equip participants with the knowledge to develop a systematic approach to effective supervision
To offer an introduction to theoretical frameworks that will underpin practice
To further develop participants’ confidence to deliver effective supervision
Course objectives
By the end of the course participants will have had opportunities to:
- Explore participants’ knowledge, experience and attitude to supervision, both personal and organisational
- Gain an integrated approach to the content of supervision
- Agree some basic principles in delivering effective supervision
- Create a checklist of items that should be included on a supervision agenda
- Consider the range of skills, qualities and roles involved in supervision
- Explore ideas to improve effective challenging and intervention in situations that arise within supervision sessions
- Be introduced to a range of theoretical frameworks
