Develop understanding and practical interventions to support individuals with life difficulties associated with personality disorder.

This is available as a 1/2 or 1 day online course delivered online (for individuals).

Understand what personality disorders are, the possible causes, 'symptoms' and associated life difficulties in order to provide services and support that can make a positive difference to people's lives.

Drawing upon personal experiences of receiving a personality disorder diagnosis, the course offers up to date evidence and relevant practical interventions to promote recovery and wellbeing.

    This training is available for individual staff members on our open programme in Bristol (you come to us) and for teams in-house (we come to you).

    Course aims

    To increase awareness of personality disorder and the evidence based approaches that can be helpful, with an emphasis on the perspectives of people with ‘lived experience’

    Course objectives

    By the end of the course participants will have had opportunities to:

    • Discuss and understand the term and experience of personality disorder
    • Explore attitudes about personality disorder
    • Consider the proposed causes of personality disorder and the implications
    • Find out about the different types of personality disorders with a specific focus on Borderline Personality Disorder
    • Consider evidence based approaches that promote recovery and wellbeing
    • Recognise the importance of a psychologically informed team approach
