Increase confidence in engaging with individuals who have thoughts of suicide to promote and plan for their safety.

This is a 1/2 day course delivered online (for individuals).

Drawing on evidenced based suicide intervention strategies, this course provides space to talk about suicide and develop suicide safe responses.

Consider suicide risk factors, practice suicide intervention skills, and identify approaches and resources to support individuals to make plans to stay safe.

    This training is available for individual staff members on our open programme in Bristol (you come to us) and as a 1 or 1/2 day course for teams in-house (we come to you).

    Also currently available (online for teams).

    Course aims

    To increase confidence in engaging with individuals who have thoughts of suicide and understand how to plan for safety

    Course objectives

    By the end of the course participants will have had opportunities to:

    • Increase confidence in engaging with individuals about suicide
    • Consider suicide risk and how to respond, drawing on evidenced based suicide first response strategies
    • Evidenced based intervention skills including developing individual plans to stay safe
    • Recognise the importance of self-care when supporting a person who has thoughts of suicide
