Introduction to coaching skills

 

Course overview:

This interactive training explores the foundations, the role of self-awareness and psychological safety in coaching. Participants will learn what coaching is (and isn’t), develop key skills, use practical tools and understand how to build a coaching culture. With guided practice and reflection, strengthen your confidence to apply coaching effectively with service users, peers or as a manager.

 

Aim(s):

To develop participants' coaching skills.

 

Objectives:

By the end of the course participants will have had opportunities to:

  • Gain insight into what coaching is and what it is not
  • Understanding of how we work and how this impacts us in coaching
  • Explore and practise coaching foundation skills
  • Practise a variety of tools and techniques to enable you to develop your coaching skills

 

Maximum group size: 12

Your trainer(s)

Dawn Taylor

Dawn brings over 30 years’ experience in the VCSE sector, working in development, project and change management with individuals, teams, organisations, Boards and partnerships as a coach, consultant, leader, Chair and Trustee. Her work  focuses on coaching, strategy, team and board development and co-production.

 

Dawn has worked extensively in the Violence Against Women and Girls sector as well as youth homelessness, mental health and services for people with lived experience of care - spanning direct delivery, development, and infrastructure support at local to national levels. She brings extensive experience across operational and strategic functions and working within complex structures.

 

A qualified coach and member of the International Coaching Federation, Dawn specialises in individual and group coaching for managers and leaders, integrating coaching approaches into her training and development work.

 

Dawn has a Post Graduate Diploma in Not-For-Profit Management, a BSc (Hons) Social Sciences and is trained in mentoring and social accounting and auditing.
