Adult Mental Health First Aid (online for teams)
Develop understanding and confidence to respond to emotional and mental health difficulties and support people in distress; and identify resources to promote mental health and wellbeing. This two day course qualifies you as a Mental Health First Aider.
This is a 4 session online course delivered in-house (for teams).
Mental Health First Aid provides a framework for responding to emotional and mental health difficulties including anxiety, self injury, depression, suicide risk and psychosis. There is an emphasis on early intervention, promoting good mental health and linking individuals to resources and services that can help.
You will leave with a comprehensive handbook of guidance and resources to respond to crisis when they occur, look after your own mental health and promote mental health awareness and wellbeing in your workplace, service and community. Participants receive a certificate of attendance from Mental Health First Aid England.
Also available (online for individuals)
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches people how to identify, understand and help someone who may be experiencing a mental health issue.
MHFA won’t teach you to be a therapist, but it will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis – and even potentially stop a crisis from happening.
By the end of the course, you will have had opportunities to:
- Gain an in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
- Learn skills to recognise the triggers and signs of mental health issues
- Develop confidence to step-in, reassure and support a person in distress
- Learn how to empower someone to access the support they might need for recovery or successful management of symptoms
- Gain an understanding of how to support positive wellbeing and tackle stigma in the world around you
This course is delivered online (for individuals).
Comprised of 4 x 2.5 hour live webinars, plus 3.5 hours self-directed learning on an online learning hub, and 3.5 hours reading.

"Learning about the purpose of anxiety – fight, flight or freeze. Engaging in exercises that helped to understand how/why someone feels during a mental health crisis. The course was really interesting and engaging. I could relate what was being said to people in my personal life and client group and take away skills to deal with crisis in the future."
