Effectively support and manage teams to respond to safeguarding concerns in line with good practice and current legislation.

This course will be useful for Designated Safeguarding Leads, Managers and Champions.

This is a half day course delivered online (for teams).

Drawing on current legislation in England, develop your understanding to support and manage teams to identify how to respond to safeguarding disclosures and concerns appropriately

Participants will have opportunities to update knowledge on categories of abuse; consider how to implement the principles of Making Safeguarding Personal; and explore challenges and good practice in dealing with disclosure, preserving physical evidence, accurate recording and sharing information.

This course will be useful for Designated Safeguarding Leads, Managers and anyone who has responsibility for safeguarding in an organisation.

This course covers the Care Act 2014 (for England) and Mental Capacity Act 2005 (amended 2019) (for England & Wales).

    Course aims

    To enable managers and designated safeguarding leads to explore their role in more detail and make practical plans to embed Safeguarding in organisational policy and practice.

    Course objectives

    By the end of the course participants will have had opportunities to:

    • Understand the role of managers and designated safeguarding leads
    • Explore the boundaries and challenges of that role
    • Examine the role of the organisation’s policies and practice in Adult Safeguarding
    • Develop a plan for how to translate this on a practical level to make informed decisions
