This is a 1 day in-house course (we come to you).

Practise using tools and resources to have conversations and offer brief advice and interventions to influence change, and know when and how to support young people into specialist services.

This course is continually updated to reflect changing times, trends and approaches.

    Course aims

    To raise participants' awareness of drug & alcohol use, and to encourage appropriate responses to young people’s needs

    Course objectives

    By the end of the course participants will have had opportunities to:

    • Increase knowledge and understanding of substances, their use and effects
    • Recognise indications of substance misuse
    • Find out about the extent of young people’s substance use, and relevant causes and risk factors
    • Identify appropriate interventions according to your role
    • Know how and when to refer individuals to specialists
