Increase understanding of mental health in the workplace, and develop strategies to support employees whilst remaining objective about business needs.

Develop skills to initiate H.E.L.P.F.U.L. conversations to support employees experiencing distress, handle disclosure, manage performance, and help them to remain in or return to work.

    Also available as a ½ day in-house course (we come to you).

    Course aims

    To increase understanding and literacy of mental health issues in the workplace and to develop the skills to have supportive conversations with employees whilst remaining objective about the business needs

    Course objectives

    By the end of the course participants will have had opportunities to:

    • Raise awareness and understanding of mental health at work
    • Understand how to proactively manage employees’ mental wellbeing to reduce mental ill health and associated absence
    • Learn how to initiate a H.E.L.P.F.U.L conversation about mental health and how to handle disclosure
    • Develop strategies to manage staff performance where a mental health problem may be a factor
    • Identify the steps that can be taken to help employees return to work from a period of absence due to mental ill health
    • Increase confidence in supporting colleagues experiencing a mental health problem
