Working with concerned others
Develop cores skills to assist concerned others to motivate resistant loved ones into treatment and make improvements to their own lives.
This is a 2 day in-house course (we come to you).
Evidence suggests that supporting family members not only helps the families themselves but also improves treatment take up, retention and outcomes for drug users.
Based on the proven Parent & Carers Training pack (PACT), the course dispels the myth that nothing can be achieved until the problem user decides to change themselves, and gives workers the skills to assist concerned others to motivate resistant loved ones into treatment and make improvements to their own lives.
Also currently available (online for teams).
Course aims
To apply core skills in assisting concerned others to increase motivation to change in their loved one’s and improve their own lives
Course objectives
By the end of the course participants will have had opportunities to:
- Understand the principles of reinforcement
- Assess the severity of dependence and addiction
- Practice the core skills to increase motivation to change in the problem using loved one
- Reduce the incidence of domestic violence on the concerned other
- Identify how the concerned other can improve their own life
