Youth Mental Health First Aid Champion 1 day (online for teams)

Develop understanding and confidence to help prevent mental health issues, to support a child or young person if they are already struggling or to respond to a mental health crisis.
This is a 2 session course delivered online (for teams).
Aimed at anyone who supports young people 8-18 the course develops understanding of common mental health issues, alongside confidence to spot signs of mental ill health in children and young people and guide them to a place of support.
You'll receive a comprehensive manual with Mental Health First Aid guidance to help prevent mental health issues, to support a child or young person if they are already struggling or to respond to a mental health crisis.
This training is available for individual staff members on our open programme in Bristol (you come to us) and for teams in-house (we come to you).
Also currently available (online for individuals).
Course aims
To develop skills and confidence to spot the signs of mental health issues in a young person, offer first aid and guide them towards the support they need
Course objectives
By the end of the session participants will have had opportunities to:
- Develop an understanding of common mental health issues and how they can affect young people
- Consider how to spot signs of mental ill health in young people and guide them to a place of support
- Gain knowledge and confidence to advocate for mental health awareness
- Develop skills to support positive wellbeing
